2. What is the difference between a gift-in-kind donation and a sponsorship?

Gift-in-kind is when a business donates either services or property and does not receive a benefit from the donation. An income tax receipt would be issued.
Sponsorship is when a company provides funding and receives a benefit in return, such as publicity for its corporate support (i.e. sponsor for a major fundraising event). An income tax receipt is NOT issued.

3. What is an electronic tax receipt?

Every time you make an online donation to The Lung Association, an electronic tax receipt is sent instantly to your email address. Your e-receipt is a PDF that cannot be altered, and is your official receipt for income tax purposes. All you need to do is print out the receipt and include a copy with your income tax return.

You will need to have Adobe Acrobat Reader to view and print your receipt; it is available to download for FREE at: www.adobe.com
